Alex Postelnek (President):
Alex’s background is actually in Performing Arts and had a previous career as an acclaimed musician, having performed at Carnegie Hall with noted cellist Yo-Yo Ma and producing and performing on recordings for Sony/Nonesuch Records. In 2005, Alex received a Fulbright Scholarship which brought him to India and ended up discovering Craft Beer through his homebrewing experiments. Under the guidance of a few key mentors including Lee Chase (former head brewer of Stone Brewing Co), Philip Kelm (of Gitchegumee, Palau) and Oliver Schauf (of Doolally Craft Ales and Ciders), Alex went on to receive educational courses through the Siebel Institute. Having worked at several breweries, Alex honed his craft over many years, slowly advancing and increasing his knowledge with meticulous study and voracious reading.
Alex is well known in the industry as an early driving force behind the astronomical success and expansion of the Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park, FL where he managed day to day operations as Brewer from 2013-2015. Since moving back to consulting, Alex has been responsible for starting up more than a dozen breweries in countries around the world. Currently based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Alex is an advocate for independently-owned Craft Breweries, fair wages and employment for brewers and producing high quality beers that are appreciated all over the world. He is regularly called upon to judge beer competitions and many of his past clients consider him part of their extended brewing family.
Alex is a formidable brewer, earning credit for multiple award-winning beers around the globe. He is an expert level production brewer, cellarman, centrifuge operator, bottling line operator and lab technician. He has experience over a wide range of production techniques and informed historical understanding of Brewing Technology. He has boots-on-the-ground experience working with architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers all around the world and has been responsible for creating specifications and purchasing high value equipment from reputable global vendors and successfully installing, commissioning and training brewers to produce fantastic beer.
